Paying for Treatment in Minnesota: You Have More Options Than You Think

One of the biggest reasons people delay getting help is worry about cost. It’s common to assume treatment is out of reach or that you’ll be asked to figure everything out on your own. That’s not how it works here.

At Project Turnabout, paying for treatment is something we help you navigate, step by step.

Insurance Coverage

Many people use health insurance to pay for treatment. Our team can help check your benefits, explain what is covered, and walk through any required steps before admission. We work with both in-network and out-of-network plans and will explain things in plain language so you know what to expect.

If you’re unsure whether your insurance applies, that’s okay. One call can usually clear that up.

State and Public Funding in Minnesota

Minnesota offers several state-funded options that can help cover the cost of substance use and mental health treatment. These programs exist to make care more accessible, especially during times of financial stress.

Our staff is familiar with these programs and can help determine whether you may qualify and what steps are needed to apply.

Private Pay Options

Some people choose to pay privately, either by choice or because it best fits their situation. If that’s the case, we’ll talk through current rates and help you understand what’s included so there are no surprises.

Paid Leave and Time Away From Work

Many people don’t realize that they may be able to take time off work for treatment while protecting their job or income. Options such as Paid Medical Leave, Family Medical Leave, or employer-sponsored benefits may apply.

We can help explain how treatment fits into these options and what documentation may be needed.

Individualized Payment Support

Paying for treatment can feel overwhelming, and everyone’s situation is different. Sometimes our staff can help identify individualized ways to pay for treatment, based on your specific needs and circumstances. As a nonprofit organization, we also work hard to keep our programs affordable so getting help is more accessible.

If cost is a concern, you don’t have to face that alone. Talking through options is part of how we help you take the next step.

One Conversation Can Bring Clarity

You don’t need to have all the answers before you call. You don’t need to know exactly how you’ll pay or what program is right. That’s what we’re here for.

Sometimes the first step isn’t committing to treatment. It’s simply understanding what’s possible.
