Build a career with purpose while the world sleeps.

At Project Turnabout, we know that recovery opens the door to new beginnings. For some, that next step forward includes a chance to give back — to use your own lived experience in a role that supports others on their journey. Right now, we’re hiring part-time Overnight Human Service Technicians (HSTs) in Granite Falls, MN, and we believe this could be a great fit for some of our alumni.

What is a Human Service Technician?

Human Service Technicians are the steady presence on our treatment units during the night. They are the ones who:

  • Support and monitor patients overnight
  • Complete shift reports on behaviors, incidents, and circumstances so counselors are informed in the morning
  • Enter orientation and behavior notes into each patient’s electronic medical record
  • Make regular rounds of the unit to ensure safety and support
  • Assist staff as needed so the unit runs smoothly

This is hands-on, mission-driven work where you know you’re making a difference.

Why It’s a Good Fit for Alumni

For many alumni, this role is more than a job. It’s a chance to bring the strength of your recovery into the workplace. Here’s why it can be such a meaningful fit:

  • Work with purpose — support people during some of their most vulnerable hours.
  • Consistent schedules — overnight shifts (8 PM – 8 AM) repeat every 4 weeks with every 3rd weekend and holiday coverage.
  • Part-time flexibility — 68–72 hours per pay period, depending on the position.
  • Professional growth — includes tuition reimbursement and training opportunities to build your career.
  • A team that understands recovery — your experience is an asset here.

Pay and Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $16.22 – $18.00
  • Benefits include:
  • Health insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Flexible spending account
  • Employee assistance program

What You Need to Apply

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license (required for work on MSU campus)
  • At least one year free from chemical/gambling use
  • Must meet MN Department of Human Services background study approval

About the TMA Certification

You’ll notice the job description includes a requirement to become a Trained Medication Aide (TMA) within 6 months of hire. A TMA is certified to safely dispense and administer medications under the supervision of a nurse.

Don’t worry if you don’t have this yet — you don’t need it to apply. We’ll help you complete the training and guide you through the process. Not only will you meet the job requirement, but you’ll also add a valuable certification to your qualifications for future opportunities.

Overnight Human Service Technician positions follow a consistent 4-week rotating schedule made up of 12-hour night shifts (8 PM – 8 AM) and occasional evening or mid shifts, depending on the position. The rotation is the same each month, which makes it easier to plan around, and includes some weekend and holiday coverage. These roles are ideal for those who prefer steady overnight work and want a reliable, predictable schedule.
